The Hard Life of the Wine Writer

This is just a part of the kind of marathon tasting you have to do occasionally. Unfortunately this is for my January ’10 Buck Challenge’ column so all the wine is quite inexpensive.

The good news is, this category is improving every year in quality. You need fear no longer the wedding banquet! The bad news is after this I have a rubber tongue and a desire to drink anything but cheap wine with dinner.

I had a half of a half bottle of Stellar’s Jay to refresh the palate (after two hours of club soda) and served Katnook Odyssy with my barbecued fillet. Finished with some ’94 port. Felt better after treating myself so nicely.
