Rogstad Valentine’s Day Drinks

If you’re looking for a great idea for sipping while nibbling on chocolate or other naughty bits, here’s three that should satisfy everyone.

Firstly, as always open a bottle of bubbly! What can be more romantic than toasting your love with a fine glass of Canadian sparkling wine. This is a Chardonnay (i.e. blanc de blanc) from Angel’s Gate in the Niagara.

Secondly, Port from Portugal is the best wine, bar none, with chocolate that you will ever find. Don’t buy tawny – it’s best with nuts and dried fruit – buy either a nice ruby, LBV or – pictured above the new Pink Port from Croft. (Love is always pink!)

Finally, for the beer drinkers in the crowd, have you ever tried a nice dark beer and dark chocolate? Guinness has made chocolates to eat with their beer for about a hundred years. Here I used the local Paddock Wood beer, 1000 Monkeys. IT is a great beer and astonishing with dark chocolate.

And for chocolate, because I’m lazy I resorted to Lindt Orange Intense from the supermarket. But you could always buy a bar of Brix instead…

BTW Croft Pink is about the most cocktail friendly wine I’ve struck in a long time. Start Experimenting!
